Our Work

Our goal is to integrate connection through powerful transformative communication. We partner with all types of organizations for diversity, equity, and inclusion work, using the arts as the tinder to spark the imagination for the change that is possible. Beyond having created five critically acclaimed original films addressing injustice, World Trust uses an integrated approach consisting of visual and performing arts as well as slides, presentations, written materials, discussions, and handouts. This approach supports unearthing deeply held biases and beginning to deconstruct them.

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is built on Co-liberation, held up by the three main pillars that support our vision: Social Justice Praxis, Healing Work, and Radical Imagination. We strive to create a space where everyone can join, be heard, and belong. Our focus is on positive change and teamwork, not blame or shame.

Social Justice Praxis

Social Justice is about more than just embracing diversity. It’s about acknowledging and actively addressing oppressive systems and the abuse of power. We use various frameworks to understand the roots of inequality and how it functions, seeking ways to bring about meaningful change. This involves:

  • recognizing the process of racialization
  • understanding its origins and consequences, and
  • recognizing how it intersects with other forms of discrimination.

Our work focuses on dismantling these systems of oppression to reconstruct new ways of being that support a liberated and equitable society for everyone. In addition to our structural work, we also focus on relationships that delve into the process of transformative change, exploring how change occurs on personal, interpersonal, structural, and systemic levels.

Healing

Healing is an essential component of addressing the harm caused by racial oppression and systemic inequity. The forces of dominance that underlie these systems exist not only in society but also within our own bodies and relationships. It is crucial that we understand how these forces operate and work towards healing them. This process involves identifying, naming, and transforming these oppressive forces, both individually and collectively. Healing is inseparable from the pursuit of social justice and racial equity.

Radical Imagination

Radical imagination is the third aspect of co-liberation, and involves cultivating out-of-the-box thinking to facilitate new ways of being. Often, our biases, frustrations, and fatigue shape our worldview and our perception of the potential impact of our efforts to advance equity. Radical imagination encourages us to use creativity and playfulness in our world to create space for new possibilities. It allows us to overcome our preconceived notions to envision and build innovative systems through collaborative efforts. This imaginative approach helps us break free from our usual thinking and come up with fresh ways to work together and create better systems for a more inclusive and equitable future.
